1. Chiefly U.S. Esp. with regard to cattle: the action of branding with a hot iron for a second or subsequent time.1852 G. C. Mundy Our Antipodes I. ix. 289Branding does not as a matter of course preclude cattle stealing; the marks are either cut out bodily or altered by rebranding.
