(SKOR-ee-uh) plural scoriae (SKOR-ee-ee)

MEANING:
noun:
1. In metallurgy, the refuse or slag left from smelting. 2. Porous cinderlike fragments of solidified lava.

ETYMOLOGY:
From Latin scoria, from Greek skoria (dross), from skor (dung).

USAGE:
